SEEKING FOR BREAKTHROUGH Part 4
In the book of Joshua chapter 9 we saw Joshua and the children of Israel conquered several land and took spoils but people of Gibeon craftily tricked Israelites to make treaty with them by pretext.
They sent some of their men with torn clothes and spoilt foods to deceive Joshua that they were their servants coming from a far country and that was why their clothes got torn and their foods spoilt.
Cunningly they made them swore never to harm them nor kill them but to keep them. Josh9:16-20 says "And it came to pass in the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbors, and that they dwelt among them.
And the children of Israel journeyed and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon,and Chephirah and Beeroth,and Kirjathjearim.
And the children of Israel smote them not because the princes of the congregation had sworn unto them by the Lord God of Israel now therefore we may not touch them.
This we do to them, we will even let them live, lest wrath be upon us, because of the oath which we aware unto them"
