Powerful House of Representatives Member Is Dead

Mr Dogonyaro, who was elected to the platform of the All Progressives Congress, was known for his integrity, hard work and unwavering dedication to the welfare of Nigerians. His presence will be sorely missed in the hallowed halls of the House of Commons.



The first-time lawmaker, who served as vice-chairman of the Committee to Combat HIV/AIDS and Malaria in the 10th Parliament, reportedly passed away in Abuja on Friday morning after a short illness.

Speaker Akintunde Rotimi confirmed the death of the 46-year-old lawmaker. A statement confirming the death said: Isa Dogonyaro (Kognan Lingim), a prominent lawmaker representing Babura/Garki Federal Constituency in Jigawa State in the 10th House of Representatives.



“Hon. Dogonyaro passed away today, Friday, March 10, 2024, in Abuja at the age of 46 after a short illness.



“Hon. Isa Dogonyaro was a dedicated and passionate lawmaker who served his constituents and the nation with utmost dedication.



“He was a pillar of the House of Commons, contributing significantly to legislation, particularly in the areas of combating HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, and served as vice-chairman of House of Commons committees.”

He forged strong friendships with honorary members from all over the country. He leaves behind his wife and children.
