Just before Christmas, the company's longstanding Chicago director of operations Adam Petlin and anchor-reporter Matt Napolitano of Fox News both passed away, the network and their families revealed.

Two members of Fox News' family have passed away. Just before Christmas, the network lost anchor-reporter Matt Napolitano and longtime Chicago director of operations Adam Petlin.

Ricky Whitcomb, Napolitano's spouse, verified the 33-year-old media figure's passing on December 23. Whitcomb posted on X (previously known as Twitter) on December 24.

"With a heavy heart I have to share that my husband @MattNapolitano passed away yesterday morning," Whitcomb said. "He loved his job and he loved bringing the news to your radios and televisions."

Whitcomb continued, saying that Napolitano "was diagnosed with an auto immune disease almost 20 years ago, and the infection that killed him was the cause of his death."

According to a statement received by USA Today, Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott commended Napolitano's efforts to the network following the devastating news.

"Matt did everything from anchoring to writing and producing for our audio platforms," said Scott, "and loved being able to work in the journalism field that he trained for his entire life."
